Dec. 3 pt. 2: Smart Dream Cup

Oh 'di ba, lakas maka-Twilight Saga! May part two pa!

There's just too much kwento for this post it deserves a separate entry :))

So after Treston, Maine and I trekked back to Serendra/High Street area to look for a restaurant that will show the Smart Dream Cup broadcast over Studio 23. We checked out the open food court at Market Market (where Gilligan's and Gerry's is) but they either didn't have TVs or they were turned off.

Maine was beginning to panic that we might miss the game (Nooooooooo!!!!) so we hurriedly crossed Serendra to High Street. One of my friends suggested we watch at TGI Friday's and he wasn't wrong! When we got there though a party just finished so we had to wait. The waitress then called us and gave us bar top seats "para kitang-kita niyo po 'yung TV." Perfect ka, teh!

We were way too early so we challenged ourselves to stretch whatever we were eating for two hours! Haha! There weren't much people when we took our seats, just three guys across us who I assume are cousins or something.

Here's what I ordered

It's Fried Mac 'n Cheese - these nuggets had mac 'n cheese inside! Ang sarap! #happytummy You'd think six pieces are bitin but they were actually filling!

Maine had uhm ... Chicken Fingers with Fries :)) Well, that's what left of it haha!

No, we did not attack those bottles. Tempting though!

Finally, the game starts!

I admit, I missed watching these guys playing together. Whenever I'd see a tweet from the guys who flew in (Ott, Jonsson, De Jong, Greatwich, Gier) saying that in a few hours they'd be in Manila, I got goosebumps! It's like superheroes coming together... like Power Rangers!

Too bad Aly Borromeo was sidelined because of his ACL injury, but I'm sure he was thrilled as everyone else when Landon Donovan (Galaxy's captain) tweeted him yesterday morning asking if they could trade jerseys after the game. I don't follow US soccer but when I saw Donovan, I went daaaaayymmm!! What is it with me and good looking captains!? Lol! Others who were missed as well were Simon Greatwich, Neil Etheridge and Roland Muller.

My Twitter timeline was off the hook! Early in the first half #GoAzkals was the fourth trending topic worldwide. And I loved it that Jason De Jong also trended when he came in for Manny Ott. The reactions on Twitter were priceless, especially Mark Nicdao's who was probably tweeting as he spoke.

We all know what went down already - first goal by Beckham! There's the frustration BUT THEN AGAIN David Beckham! Goal! In Rizal Memorial! Are you kidding me! I don't know if the little fist pump that Anton del Rosario did after that goal was out of frustration or sheer joy.

But we have Phil Young-freakin-husband to thank for that lone goal for the Azkals on the scoreboard. Must've been the embroidered boots, eh? Crowd and threats of Maine leaving me be damned, I threw fist pumps and gave a loud whoop when he made the goal.

THAT'S WHEN THE NEWS CREW CAME IN. All of a sudden there was a tripod, a camera that was DIRECTLY pointed at myself and Maine, a reporter, and lights. I was half-praying for another Azkals goal, half-praying for a Galaxy goal because if the former scored, FOR SURE our priceless fangirl reactions would be recorded in history (and God knows who would see it!) Somewhere in the reporter's spiel, Maine and I were talking, eating, or tweeting in the background. Haha!

A stolen shot of the cameraman! Haha! One of the rare times the camera wasn't pointed at us!

After dinner we just went around High Street. Wouldn't let the day end without snapping a photo of our unintentional 'matching' outfits that Laureen Uy noticed.

Can you guess? ... No? ... There's a zebra and a leopard on the loose! :))))

The match ended 6-1 to LA Galaxy. In the real world, that score would've been a disappointment. But we're on a Beckham high so let's all just let it slide and charge it to experience. Lighten up, guys! For sure our Azkals picked up a lot that will help them in their future games. It's good that we cheer for them like they're football rock stars already, but they themselves are the first ones to admit that they still have a LONG way to go to be up there with football greats.Baby steps. At least they got a taste of what it feels like to go up against big names in the sport.

We'll be welcoming 2012 with the AFC Challenge Cup in March. With this Dream Cup plus UFL exposure for some of the Azkals, we can expect a tougher, more experienced team. So keep on believing!

Congratulations to the whole team and to those behind this 'dream' event. Tickets were pricey but there was still a good turn out. Kaholeros as always pumping up the crowd and Blue Haired Fan even going from Head Kaholero to presscon moderator. It's in my bucket list to meet him and have a photo taken with him in costume! Next time, we'll make sure to watch live :)

We believe!

Dec. 3 pt. 1: Bloggers United 2

I've WAITED for Dec. 3 for so long! Ever since the frenzy of David Beckham, up to the minute Landon Donovan tweeted Aly Borromeo if they could trade jerseys after the game.

But first in order for the day was Bloggers United 2. It was my first time to try the Fort Bus but thanks to Ana Gonzales' instructions on her blog, Maine and I made it to Treston International College without fuss.

To say that Treston International College is nice is an understatement. They have good good facilities (so good, nangangain ng tanga yung restroom haha!) and it looked every bit like a school for hospitality management and business. You'd think you're entering a hotel when you see the lobby!

Bloggers United 2 took place at Treston's gym - impressive! The air-conditioning was enough for the packed venue. After quickly scanning the first aisle of stalls, we stood by the stage where Divine Lee and Laureen Uy were hosting.

LOVED Divine Lee! Beki na beki lang! Victor Basa was also there, forever supportive to Divine <3

And then the shopping begins! I promised myself I will restrain from buying accessories this time, so I attacked the racks and racks of clothes. I scored a purple vest from PoisonBerry for only P80, and a long-sleeved top from Lauren Dado's I Am Bourgeois. Photos to follow, I promise!

Aside from the clothes, the other reason Maine and I went there were for the bloggers! It felt surreal to see the likes of Laureen Uy, Patricia Prieto, Lissa Kahayon and Paul Jatayna walking in front of us na parang wala lang!

First up: Kryz Uy
She was so cute trying to entertain those who wanted to take pictures with her while answering price inquiries. I don't know which one of the ladies going around was part of her staff... it felt awkward to ask her mismo. I spotted this oversized cover-up and a horse-print top at just P250 each I wanted to buy SO badly! (It didn't help that Maine was bullying me into buying them)

Loved the 'Hype' pin Kryz is wearing. Yes, I 'hype' you! <3

Finally with Laureen Uy! <3 So pretty and natural! Sobrang wala siyang 'ere' na artista as she moved around the venue, mingling with her fellow bloggers. She was the one who noticed mine and Maine's (is that even gramatically correct?!) 'matching' outfits! Sa sobrang saya, wala kami parehas nasabi!

This is like an all-access pass to her closet!

And yes, I will say this without shame: I have a blogger-crush on Paul Jatayna <3 When I saw him in his stall, I LITERALLY froze. Maine and I did rounds (and I mean rounds) of the other stalls before finally approaching him and ask for a photo. Lakas kasi maka-intimidate! But when I approached him he broke into a wide smile and even asked for our names. *Melts*

Also dropped by Ana Gonzales' stall and showed Maine her handmade wire accessories. Loved them!

One of the bloggers who had a stall was a schoolmate of mine in high school who belonged to a higher batch.
Bestie Konisis runs The Capricious Club. Coming from the same high school as hers makes me even prouder to be a Marian!

When we left, there was a "fashion debate" going on onstage and it was a battle among Team Flats, Team Wedges and Team Stilettos. If you ask me, I'd belong to Team Wedges and Team Flats... for the simple reason that I can't walk on stilettos to save my life! Someday... haha!

As we left Treston, here's a thought we found scary but at the same time interesting:

I think we just got a taste of that yesterday... and it wasn't so bad! (If there's Paul Jatayna, I'm in! Lol)

Congratulations to the organizers of Bloggers United 2! It was a success judging from the tweets from those who attended. Bloggers, readers, and followers were all happy! Looking forward to more events like this!

Backlog 1: Herword's 10th anniversary

LIFE happened so I haven't updated in a while... out with Piolo-KC, in with Mo-Rhian! Haha!

This is the mother of all backlogs so let me start with HerWord.com's 10th anniversary celebration at Eastwood Central Plaza last Nov. 30.

I wasn't able to go attend the talks for the day because I got to Eastwood around 6 p.m. already. There was a cooking demo by Flavors on Fire...

...who was also one of the two featured booths who gave free food to those who bought Passports

The other one was Hero Sausages

After eating dinner courtesy of Flavors on Fire, we watched an excerpt from Pinocchio, performed by Tanghalang Pilipino of the Cultural Center of the Philippines

Trivia: Tanghalang Pilipino stages The Virgin Labfest, which features plays that have never been performed. My Theater professor in college (one of my favorites) used to act in some of the plays in the Labfest. And another trivia: If you've seen Babae sa Septic Tank, the guy in blue (second from right) played the obnoxious director that Kean and JM's characters ran into when they were brainstorming in a coffeshop. Siya yung galing sa Cannes at mahilig sa "ekspreso"!!

It was nice seeing the BusinessWorld peeps again! Here's me with Danet, the Superwoman!

Of course I wouldn't let the day pass without buying something! I scored this ribbon connector ring from one of the stalls for only P75! <3

Mama and I went to Eastwood Mall after watching the Pinocchio performance. There was a mini-bazaar happening, too!

Congratulations to BusinessWorld, and the Herword.com team! You guys were super :) 'Till your next event!
